afternoon haze

a farewell poem to Kansas City

Each day grows longer overflowing and spilling into the next.

There is no beginning and there is no end, just infinite possibilities.

Each day a chance for rebirth.

The heat beats on my mind and pests bite at my heals

“Life moves forward, keep it forward”

so I am told.

I am running

faster and faster

into the unknown of those infinite possibilities,

and there is no time left and no time to rest,

only time forward.

I don’t hold onto it, I let it carry me

along the river of dreams.
